So I’m in a slightly nostalgic mood and thought I’d revisit Flashback Fridays but with a difference to how I used to do them. I’ll give you my top 5 of a form of media that has played a huge part in my past. It might be music, movies, tv shows, books etc. Today’s is Australian hits of the 70’s. I’m starting with Aussie music, because we had some brilliant artists and we don’t always talk about how fantastic they were (are).
I’m such a 70’s tragic. Born in 1961, my teens were played out in the 1970’s. I wasn’t into heavy music, never have been and probably never will be. I was more into pop, folk, ballads and country. In Australia, we had a program called Countdown and every Sunday, we’d gather around the tv and watch music acts from around the world perform, or in many cases, mime badly to their hits.
This is not an easy task as I could list so many songs. These are 5 that hold a very special place in my memories, but there are a million others I could have put in. So in no particular order because I love them all…
Jon English – Hollywood 7
John Paul Young – Yesterday’s Hero
Hans Poulsen – Boom Sha La La Lo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHIm2ivLCpc
Billy Thorpe – Somewhere over the Rainbow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gv1fA6JLjX8
Robin Jolley – Marshall’s Portable Music Machine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uxkDXXGt80
What’s wrong with me then? I loved Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Queen …………. shall I continue? lol
Ahhh.. I was just a simple pop chick I’m afraid lol
Love love love the first two. And I was born in the 70’s. I’m a definite tragic for the older stuff, 80’s especially.
I was too busy having kids to really love the 80s but the 70s.. swoon
Great hair and fringe 🙂
thanks Joan.. I have no idea how I made it stay there lol
