I feel like I’ve been away forever. I’ve been in the final throes of my course and only have tomorrow left and it’s done. Whilst I am going back to study next semester, it’s sort of sad to see this course finish but onward and upward.
This is my photo challenge for the word Fleeting. This beautiful black cockatoo sat against the sun to make the perfect silhouette and let me take his photo.. then in a hearbeat he was gone. What a magnificent creature.

below is the original photo straight from the camera. I just changed the temperature of the color to make it red as I needed something a bit brighter for a portfolio I was putting together.. I love the untouched one too.. This hasn’t been adjusted in any way 🙂

For what it’s worth I could enjoy either on my wall. I have several red/pink sunsets in central Australia which I thought could not happen when I first viewed paintings with similar colours. Depending on one’s colour scheme either would look great. If pushed….I would select the ‘blue’ image….my favourite colour.
thank you.. I’ve just got back from Alice Springs and was amazed by the colors up there.. I was the same as you, always thought the colors in paintings were a bit overdone.. till i saw mother nature’s palette.. 🙂
I purchased a painting while in Alice Springs…decided against the vivid orange sky…too overdone. Back at camping ground sunset rolls around and the sky was identical…
lol. I know.. I got some amazing photos at coober pedy. They sky was bright yellow. Even I look at it and say it’s too much but it’s what the sky was like that evening. Just stunning.

Beautifully done! How is the background so pink, did you post-process the color in?
Tina.. the background is actually a bluey grey color which I felt didn’t do the bird justice so I just changed the temperature of the background to make it more fiery.. other than that no other changes.. I’ll put the original with it so you can see the difference. 🙂
Oh my, I love the blue one, seems much more moody and natural to me. It would be interesting to ask your readers which they prefer and why. Sometimes you get a bigger response to your posts when you ask for opinions. Thanks for posting it!
Funny isn’t it.. Some friends preferred the blue.. others the red.. but I had to make it fit into a portfolio which was the original reason for the change.. now i love the red.. but I still like the blue.. Considering it was straight from the camera.. i was pretty impressed with it 🙂
