‘Taking time to rest is not a waste of time but a necessary part of life. Remember the field which has been rested grows the most abundant crop’

I realised that before yesterday, it is almost 4 years since I wrote on this blog. I didn’t think it had been so long. So much has happened in that time: 4 more grandchildren, a trip overseas, a few exhibitions and some sad farewells to be said. It doesn’t seem like 4 years but I guess life just gets away. I remember when I was a teen, Mum said that the years go quicker the older you get. I laughed at her. Years seem to drag at that age. Now I know what she meant. It’s all going by way too quickly.

In 2020 when I last posted, we were in the middle of lockdowns and all things covid and it took so much from us. Everything seemed to change and our focus seemed to be only on bad stuff. Fear was all around. Before that we’d had bushfires, choking smoke and floods. No wonder I stopped writing. It’s very hard to focus on the positives when you are being bombarded with the negatives. And yet, so much wonderful stuff happened in that time too but it seemed to be overshadowed with fear.

I will slowly catch up on all the things I’ve been doing, the comings and goings and all things in between but I have to keep reminding myself that it was okay to take a break too. I tend to beat myself up emotionally when I think I’ve been lazy or have failed at something. But it has been a very busy and full on 4 years, so I guess it’s understandable that I needed some time away. So this rested ground will hopefully become an abundant crop again.

For now though, I have lawns to mow, housework to do and some art stuff to finish, so I’ll leave my ramblings here for now. Hopefully by tomorrow, I’ll get my head around this writing caper again. Until then, be kind to yourself and to those around you. In the end, it’s kindness that will change the world.

Happy Resting…. Livvy xxx
