In the long white cloud, where the cows are loud and my trip is almost done. I’ll be back one day if you say I may and we’ll have a bit more fun….. apologies to Spike Milligan (on the ning nang nong)

As we were having our lunch at the Hamilton Garden’s cafe, a little bird came to visit and stayed for quite a while. You could tell he/she was used to being around humans as there was absolutely no fear. I’ve included the flowers of the gardens till today’s post. I thought they may be overwhelmed by the amount of photos I included in the last post.

Anyway, after lunch we left the Hamilton Gardens and meandered home, detouring along the way to a town called Morrinsville. Morrinsville is one of New Zealand’s most prosperous dairy farming areas. So it stands to reason there is a large population of real life cows that go moo but what you might not expect to find is a group of 60 brightly coloured, artist designed, fibreglass cows which are scattered around the town.

We had done a lot of walking that day so we didn’t go searching for them all, and I only took photos of a small selection due to tiredness. But what a delight it was to see the huge brightly coloured cows all dotted along the main street. From what I understand, each cow is designed and decorated by a local artist and is sponsored by a local business. You can download a map from their website and then follow the trail to find all the bovine beauties.

From there, we headed home and enjoyed my last night with my beautiful, generous hosts. The next day we headed back to Auckland airport for me to catch my flight home to Sydney. The trip here has been fantastic. I came to visit my friends and as I’ve said before, if I did nothing but visit them I would have been happy but they showed me so much of their part of the country and I had the best time. I saw so much more than I expected and I will definitely go back another time.
