Well I’m finally home in my beloved Blue Mountains again.  It’s been a long 10 days away from home.  I missed the crisp, clean air.  I missed my birds swimming in the bird resort (aka my birdbath), I missed my garden, I missed my bed and most of all, I desperately missed my internet connection.  How hard it is to write all that’s been happening without it.  But all’s well with the world again.  I’m home, it’s raining so I’m having a pyjama day, the birds are trying to avoid getting wet by sheltering in the tree, the garden has gone crazy since I’ve been gone, my bed was simply divine and here I am writing again.  I hope you’ve missed me as much as I’ve missed you!

Okay, the last time I wrote, I’d just been to Emma & Dean’s wedding and did the photos.  Well this weekend I attended Ebony & Wayne’s wedding and also did the photography.  Wow, what a different look but I can’t pick which I loved the most.  Emma & Dean had a gorgeous 30’s inspired wedding set in the absolutely stunning Duart Homestead.  Ebony & Wayne had a Hawaiian themed wedding at The Shell Club in Corio.  Both unique but both stunning.  Can I add here, neither of these weddings were overly expensive.  A lot of thought, planning and creativity was what made them stand apart from the rest.

On the drive home, Lachlan (my son) decided that since we were in remote areas, it would be a good time to spot aliens.  The stars even went out when we were in Young so he felt that was proof that they lived there.  I did try to explain to him that when there were a lot of street lights around, the stars weren’t quite as visible as in complete darkness but he thought his theory was better so who am I to argue with that sort of logic.  So while he was alien spotting, I was wildlife spotting.

One of the scary things about driving in Australia is the wildlife you encounter at night.  Cute furry creatures you see in the zoo are nowhere near as cute when they are hurtling themselves at your car in the dark.  On the drive down I almost hit 2 foxes, one of which had 2 cubs with it, a kangaroo, a wombat, numerous birds and a few field mice.   Last night, it was foxes feeding on the carcasses of kangaroos which had had unhappy encounters with trucks.  The aliens are fine by me as long as they don’t run out on the road in front of my car.

Anyway, I digress!  Ebony always wanted a fairytale wedding and Wayne, the wearer of Hawaiian shirts, wanted a beachy type theme.  Pretty hard you would think to compromise on that, but compromise they did.. wow.  Simply gorgeous.  The groomsmen all wore different color Hawaiian shirts under a black suit and the bridesmaids wore matching colored dresses.  Ebony looked every bit the fairytale princess in her gorgeous white dress and the girls floated through the day and night in their rainbow attire.

The staff at The Shell Club were just incredible and nothing was too much trouble for them.  I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised by both venues of the last 2 weeks.. So many venues are happy to take your money, provide a service and feel that’s where their obligation finishes.  Both of the aforementioned places went above and beyond what was expected of them.  They seemed to enjoy the function too.  So to Duart Homestead in Maffra and The Shell Club in Corio, I tip my hat to you.  Thank you for making both these weddings such memorable events.

The photos for the most recent wedding were taken at the foreshore in Geelong, Victoria.  If you haven’t been here, you should!  It really is a beautiful place to be. There is a bollard walk where you can discover the history of Geelong by following these beautiful painted bollards, which depict people from the past and present who have been instrumental in shaping Geelong.  There are restaurants on the pier and the waterfront, there is the family playground, Eastern Beach,  a restored olde world carousel and plenty of other things to see and do.  Whilst I no longer call Geelong home, it is a place of great beauty and is the doorstep to the Great Ocean Road which has some of the most stunning scenery you are ever likely to experience.  It is also the home of the greatest footy team in the world.. so get along to a game and tell them Livvy sent you …. lol.

I am busy now playing with the photos to get them to a standard I’m happy with, so till then, I hope you enjoy this photo I’m sharing with you.  Definitely one of my favorites.

Happy alien spotting….. Livvy 🙂
