For those of you who are regular readers, you’ve probably wondered if I’d fallen off the planet.. Well no, not quite.  I’ve been on holidays to Alice Springs and have just got home tonight.  Although I  had occasional internet access, the trip was such a whirlwind affair I just didn’t seem to find the time to sit and write anything.  In between driving, sightseeing, spending incredible family time with my cousins and taking photos, I  had just enough time to sneak in a few hours sleep each night, so the blog has had to wait for me to get home.

So here I am, after getting home a few hours ago, back in front of my (large) screen, tapping away at the keyboard.  I had the most wonderful holiday.  I crossed heaps of stuff off my bucket list.  But I have to say I’m glad to be home. No matter how much I love to travel, I love walking in my own doorway too.  Drinking tea out of my own mug, showering in my own shower, sleeping in my own bed, watching my own television and most of all….. typing on a desk top computer rather than a laptop. Bliss!!!

I will, over the next few days, share with you some of the wonderful things I’ve seen and done but there was so much, I don’t quite know where to start. I’m sure a good sleep will clear my head again so I can share my trip with you all.  What I can tell you is that I’ve come home with a strong sense of purpose and the most overwhelming joy in my heart.  This trip really has made me appreciate and give thanks for my life.

So often we concentrate on the things that go wrong instead of all the things that go right.  After being away and having such a wonderful time, I realised how blessed my life really has been.  I have two amazing sons and a gorgeous daughter in law (soon to be).  I had 10 years of unconditional love from my daughter before she passed.  I have grown up with some of the craziest cousins any person could wish for (and have traveled with some of them this trip). I live in the most glorious country in the world and when I want to travel it, I  get offered the most amazing hospitality which makes the trip even better.  Oh and I got my very first passport.  Exciting times are ahead..

One thing that really hit me in the face while I was gone was that I have to get fit.  No more excuses.  I want to be able to travel and do things without physical limitations.  So as of tomorrow, it’s sensible eating, lots of exercise and hypnosis.  Hopefully by the time I watch my son marry his beautiful bride to be, there’ll be less of me standing watching.  When I start to travel to places unseen (by me at least), I’ll do it with less weight on my shoulders (and tummy and bum and legs… etc)

So to start me off the way I mean to go on, I’m going to also start getting much more sleep than I have over the last few years.. so for now I’ll bid you all goodnight and leave you with just a few of the photos I’ve taken while I’ve been away..

Happy sleeping … Livvy 🙂
